Moodle is a popular free/libre, open-source learning management system.

It can be downloaded and self-hosted; there are also managed plans available from the lead developers and third parties.

Use cases

Self-host a learning system

Moodle can be self-hosted on your own server, so it enables users to manage and operate their own learning-management systems. For instance, an organization that is not primarily educational can use Moodle to create its own, white-labeled LMS.
