BlitzMail was an early email system developed at Dartmouth College, which operated from 1988 to 2011. It was developed at the university, including by students themselves, and became a cultural phenomenon on campus. Although it was later replaced by a more modern, Microsoft-based email system, it demonstrated the educational potential of a campus-made software communication system.
